Every school has a governing body made up of a team of volunteers both from within the school community and the outside community. They each bring a variety of skills, qualifications and experience to collectively make objective, fair and well thought out decisions.

At Yorke Mead, the governing body currently comprises 13 members.

• 5 Parent Governors elected by parents and carers of children at the school.
• 1 Staff Governor elected by members of staff at the school.
• 1 Local Authority Governor appointed by the Local Authority.
• 1 Headteacher automatically included.
• 5 co-opted Governors.
